  1. a well prepared Candidate prepares for their candidacy to speak with those they intend to represent before even running for office. This allows the Candidate to gauge whether or not they can actually be of valuable service to address those concerns, it also educates them regarding what potential voters/opposition find important. from there, the Candidate would formulate, or at least take those concerns into consideration when faced with challenge questions such as a debate
  2. cannot speak much to any potential/alleged shadiness but i did ask a while back about the room situation. As it was told to me: Marine midland is an ideal location because it is newer than many of the current areas housing various departments. one example was the evidence locker at CCSD. it cannot safely(paraphrasing) contain all that is there whereas the bank has a large and very secure manner of storing the ever-growing inventory. while i would be concerned about another building coming off the tax rolls; i would imagine buying THIS building and moving multiple departments there would be much cheaper than trying to renovate/expand the current "homes"
  3. i am firm believer in term limits, however Rodney and Joe could not be further apart when comparing. Rodney has served his district well, has been very helpful, and is engaged in issues county-wide. Joe on the other hand is only interested in what he can squeeze out of taxpayers to help him keep from getting a real job
  4. Not saying NO pay should be given, but lets look at their compensation 15k or more plus health insurance for less than part time hours(actually worked) yet other part time County employees are prohibited from getting insurance. Many of these Legislators have served multiple terms and when topic of term limits comes up they, like clockwork, reply with elections are the opportunity to limit terms, yet they do not/would not trust those same voters with determining whether they deserve raises or not. so they continue to reward themselves....which goes to your second point: there are SOME who are interested in working to improve governance, that being their primary intention, not their primary source of income
  5. Thank You to the Legislators who voted "No" regarding the most recent County Executive raise of 7.2%( I say this having been a long-time supporter of the Exec. btw). Take out all the drama between to two branches and look at it in the simplest manner: whether Legislator or Executive, wage compression is a poor argument. We the People do NOT want career politicians; at any level, nor ones that do it for insurance and pay, for if that is their motivation, the voters are not well represented.
  6. the argument of "wage compression" in public service has long stuck in my craw. i think those that are elected BY the People, should not make more than those the position represents. further, "wage compression" is a firewall against life-long politicians. want to recruit excellent private-sector employees and encourage them to stay with a company; guard against wage compression. Want to ensure public office-holders never get too comfortable, compress the hell out of those wages i say.
  7. nothing personal against Mr. Moss but given the current circus that has been occurring with the IDA/Arena i dont any elected position in the County deserves an increase
  8. at some point( hopefully sooner rather than later) they will turn away from blaming the tools, and seriously look at societal/generational malfunctions
  9. due to the margin being so tight, an automatic hand re-count has been triggered for my primary, should have results certified one way or the other by the 12th
  10. what an idea it would be to make education more affordable!? mmm perhaps stop having ONE company be the main supplier of textbooks throughout the Nation? Pipe-dreaming here but quit feeding the Union machines, it has been shown time and again that more money does NOT equate to better results. 2022 NYS spent just shy of 30k/pupil yet has middling results for student outcomes...so where is the money going?
  11. if i read the story on this case correctly, there seems to be issue with the "complainant" specifically that he is married (to a woman) and never actually requested services from this business in the first place link here: https://www.theguardian.com/law/2023/jun/29/supreme-court-lgbtq-document-veracity-colorado so this guy wasnt affected, wasnt discriminated against, didnt even KNOW about the case at hand and yet its gone all the way to SCOTUS? i would think that the existence of a protected class of Citizen is, in itself, government-sanctioned discrimination. further in my mind it is not really different than no shirt, no shoes no service....the owner is free to serve/not serve who they wish, they are also free( as many Leftists have themselves claimed) to deal with the consequences. in this case, loss of business, it also opens potential for an entrepreneur to create a like-business that caters to those who have been turned away.

along the idea of comic-con would be to see if there are vintage toy dealers etc to set up along with the comic( or separate if enough sign on). maybe a swap meet for bikes, cars, off road etc as individual affairs. perhaps it would also be a good place to hold craft vending( not direct marketing) for local crafts-people, small farms and so on, particularly since the ag building at fairgrounds isnt even on paper yet why not put a current spot to good use? hold a competition of sorts for local restaurants to showcase new or signature dishes could also double as a recruitment venue for employees?
  13. just wondering if anyone has sorted out the commercial operations from the "church" related activities? the L certainly seems to have its stuff together regarding a business plan and has continually been putting on packed shows, issue is though, if it is a business, it should NOT enjoy tax shelters and advantages under the guise of church functions

the Arena nor Hockey has had zero positive effect on this area, it has not turned a profit from day one, currently draws ZERO property taxes, why the hell do folks keep riding the hockey train around here? youth hockey benefits a small population of kids in this area; many if not all likely are from the higher income brackets as equipment and traveling is expensive enough to preclude the average Elmiran from participating. we the taxpayers have spent millions on this boondoggle and the same excuses every time the new tenant fails. its time to ditch Joe Roman, sell the arena for CHEAP and get it back on the tax rolls and get taxpayers off the hook for this ridiculousness
  15. seems to be part of the issue. many of the shops are going out of state, bringing supplies back in trunks of cars so its difficult to know its not laced, or licensed/taxed. got no issue with them doing business, but it needs to be legit

cannot see what this marketing company has to offer any different than it did with the recent owner...except probably siphon tax monies
  17. remember this idea is from same person that has continually been the monkey to the Arena's football one would think public input would be sought PRIOR to proposing any projects to the Legislature
  18. more i think of it, you see the dems solidify behind one candidate, i think, because to them a win is a win no matter how shitty the person that wins
  19. some former governor Aransas? has entered now as well
  20. how long till we are subsidizing THIS segment of agriculture

  22. really though, if you look at the "competition" GOTG3 was released 5/3, the machine( i want to see it as ive seen his standup) is kind of low-power( except hamill) fast X? FFS the last eight were god-awful and the rest of the field strikes as a bit meh... almost feels like DEI is seeped into opinions on movies now too
  23. interesting that in baldwin, the supervisor is actually two years not 4, council member is 4
  24. and per usual, its scream about decreasing the number of firearms instead of either decreasing the idiots using them, or finding out why they are such idiots(root cause)
