Im confident no one here believes otherwise. It likely would be beneficial to your candidate to use this platform to elucidate his thinking on such matters. There are many that are no fans of current office-holders, the term Leadership would be too generous. But the optics of a campaign manager supporting the elimination, or at least questioning the need for them, forces one to think there is a lack of concern/knowledge for safety or litigation against the City(taxpayers) on the part of the Candidate That's what happens in a civilized Society Honestly, probably not often enough. but while questioning them, do so based upon facts that might even negate your(general term) position, if the information bears out the need for change; Lobby elected officials to amend the law/regulation. While working or waiting for change, we cannot ignore those Laws.
  2. i admit im comparing it to Mando series; it was a bit....meh but certainly see potential for some great duels to come

you'll get no argument from anyone here on that account. as the campaign manager, you may find more support for your candidate with that approach rather than the pool. the visual appeal as well as there are more growing months than for swimming; it shows a grasp on ROI and community involvement
  5. while not as extreme/realistic as Kevin's, my plan is welfare and/or disability...we both have retirement accounts that i pay attention to as well as small stock "portfolio" but whoever thinks social security will be solvent, or those cockroaches in DC wont keep raising the retirement age, are sorely mistaken

many of us here do not live in the City, so no real dogs in the hunt beyond academic discussion. that said; i would ask you, as a candidate, if you become Mayor what would your plan be for that structure/area? what funding sources, or limits to the budget involved would you confine the taxpayers of Elmira to? Timeline and deadlines; as this isnt the first go-round for the pool topic. keep in mind 1.many of those in the City with any nostalgia are too old to be using a future pool at the site, and given the criminal activity/homeless issues, are not likely to take grandkids there either. 2. Im sure popular opinion amongst residents of the area WOULD support the construction of a new pool there however, anecdotally, majority of those residents do not pay property taxes, or are in financial position to offer financial assistance to the project. leaving many property owners on the hook for tax monies that could be better used (with smarter, actual leadership of the City) to bring sustainable economic changes to the area. your heart is likely in the right place and while honoring the past is important, Elmira has to quit living in and blaming the past, and move forward.

that greenery is not mere shrubbery, but near 20+ foot trees that not only have grown through the concrete, but established root systems, that even once the above ground bits are cut, will/can disrupt the soil beneath for years to come. No one is necessarily poo-pooing your sentiment; its just 3 or 4 decades too late. the above picture precludes any need for an independent study and certainly, as anyone with the slightest experience in trades-work, is well beyond Journeyman level, let alone student/grunt level. its time to knock it down and look to more fruitful uses of the area

very good ideas actually, though likely would not bring the City much in the way of it's favorite grant funding
  9. but it was continuously corrupted by the same "Caesars"
  10. But when Johnny claims and pontificates about the moral/intelligent high-ground despite everyone knowing, but not able to prove guilt, it tends to drive some to apoplexy
  11. correct but somehow it that exact premise has now morphed into " look at how much a scumbag party B is; i'm(they're) not so bad. Or that one IS such a scumbag, folks are alright with looking past the lesser-scumbag. Case in point: People were ragging on Trump for skeezing on younger women and because he has a douchey-aura thats worse than old Uncle Joe given the sniff &nibbles to pre-pubescent girls? So in reality Whataboutism is apparently o.k when it works out for your( general-term) "team" on a tangent: if there is a minimum age(35) to run for POTUS, why is it so far-fetched to place a maximum age? say 70? Feinstein, McConnell, Trump and Biden are all EASY arguments for that to be put in place
  12. Yup, smile still comes to my face whenever i hear the first one
  13. its a curious thing: Chairman Brennan was "asked by Committee person Laurey" to destroy the documents? one would think it would be a top down request instead as well as being Chair, Brennan certainly had to know the alleged request was unethical if not illegal.
  14. unless im mistaken, i believe WETM has blocked me from their page. only thing i can think of is they were a little sensitive to my copy & paste comment" regarding Rodney Strange info.
  15. My inquiry: The response: "We discussed the fair last night we do not have any input they asked for money we would be glad to give them some but they will not give us a business plan we r asking for there profit and loss to see where the money is going we r looking into doing more with the horses"
  16. paraphrasing what i was told but: there was request for financials or profit/loss records in order for Legislature to look into providing funds and either could not or would not be produced so far
  17. POS should receive a public reprimand from the County Legislature as well
  18. ideologies aside, you see politicians like Schumer out there saying things are cheaper, jobs, jobs, jobs and so on, and theres many out there that agree! One from Westchester area was trying to say that gas was cheaper in NYS than it has been in a few years. i replied that theres more to the state than the hudson valley, and last i tanked up, the "cheap gas" was creeping up on $4/gallon and grocery bill(despite household getting smaller) has gone up. the reply was essentially get rid of all republicans things would be better, food is high because war in ukraine and if i read more i would understand it. me being me, i could not let that sit, so paraphrasing my reply: a 5 minute google search shows the US exports more food than imports, main exporters to us are canada/mexico, what we get from europe is mainly wine, spirits and essential oils, what wheat we do buy from ukraine goes to the world food bank so neener-neener
  19. i reached out to our Legislator to see if anything is in the works or at least where it is
  20. and WE'RE the saps? im all for questioning what we see and hear but....WOW
  21. Trump hate/love aside: see below quote from somewhere familiar to know the difference....
  22. i would suppose its a fair question deserving of an answer: IF the asking price was 600k, why did county taxpayers pay 1 million?
  23. this one has a bit more bite in light of here passing
  24. means we all will be doing that much better, financially, after the hike...
  25. except that in signing a petition for a Candidate that you have ZERO intent to vote for, strictly to allow them to get on the ballot, means you cannot sign for another Candidate that you might agree with whole-heartedly. Your signature, that they can now not use( think small towns/districts with limited pool of voters), may be that one that allowed THEM on the ballot; You have effectively voted for the Candidate that is not the best option.
