  1. I kinda like the smell of a skunk spray from a distance. Not up close though, that’s a whole other funk.
  2. That’s great news! I did some looking and it’s the same company that provides the rides for the Spencer Picnic. Their website says they have 16 rides, and it looks like a good variety of stuff for all ages.
  3. Mine is definitely eclectic: A few of those are the wife's but mostly they're mine. She has her own shelf on the other side of the doorway. Many years ago when I was staying at the Seneca reservation with a friend, he noted some of the books in the room and pointed out that you can tell a lot about a person not just by the books they read, but the ones they keep on display ( for lack of a better term ). I don't think there'd be any surprises for anyone who knows me when looking at my shelves! LOL As you can see my tastes, while all over the place, are pretty consistent. Of course what you can't see here are the ebooks I read, but those are largely post apocalyptic fiction with a few other genres sprinkled in when they grab my eye.
  4. So today I started picking rocks in preparation of planting these damned wildflower seeds. I got a little less than 1/3 of the way in and suddenly remembered that picking rocks is arguably the most miserable task in all of agriculture. How I ever did it for two full days at $5/hr years ago is beyond me. ( Although even years later the farmer told anyone who would listen, "He picked rocks all day and never complained." And as I told her, I did, she just didn't hear me. ) So realizing that I was ona fast track to complete destruction of my back for the forseeable future, I decided to hell with it. They're wildflowers, they should be able to grow with some rocks in the ground. Seed goes in, or rather on, the ground tomorrow.
  5. Try some in your banana bread. You're welcome! 😁
  6. You're not wrong, @Beekeeper and it's sad to see. But the Catholic Church not only had that scandal that drove a lot of people away, they also seem to have lost touch with the people who make up the congregation. People aren't going to go where they don't feel warm and welcome, and as much as I have issues with them, the "mega churches", even around here, saw a way to fill that void people felt. And look at how well they're doing. Personally, I've been to church more in the past two years than I have in the past 20 because I joined a fraternal organization that is Catholic based. Having that friendship and sense of community makes church not feel so foreign. Even though I still don't know what the heck is going on since they changed the services.
  7. Source Just let that statement simmer in your brain for a little while.
  8. Yeah, and for the record, I don't mean to imply that it's a thing that happens only since girls were allowed into the organization. It's gone on for years. Those boys don't learn, or at least don't retain, a damned thing as they fly through the requirements. My problem ( well, one of many ) is there was instantly a push to be "the first." There's no way in hell that happened organically nor legitimately. Case in point: Source I added the bold for emphasis to make my point. I absolutely refuse to recognize this kid's "accomplishments." She didn't earn it.

It's getting a bit ridiculous, all the various places you have to go to watch a damned football game. But to subscribe to Netflix for it? Goodell can stick that in his ass.
  10. From what I've been told, the Canadian economy is just absolutely bonkers as far as prices and inflation. Of course we're seeing shrinkflation and inflation happening here as well; I nearly fainted at yesterday's grocery bill. But I hope that what our neighbors to the north are experiencing isn't an indication of what's to come here.
  11. I was told that the fair committee could have signed the company that does the carnival at the mall,"Main Event", as early as November 2023 but decided they were happy with Wheelock and signed with them. Not that anyone could have seen this coming, but with Wheelock's showing at last year's fair, and the public response, it's hard to see how someone could say they were "happy" with it.
  12. Yeah I saw the state shut them down a week or so ago.
  13. Right, put the focus back on agriculture and events based around that. Demonstrations, more exhibits, etc.
  14. This fresh turned dirt really struck me as pretty this evening. I need to get this planted so I can move on. Problem is it’s all I can did to keep up with the mowing lately. I turned this dirt in a light sprinkle, just to get it done and kill some grass trying to come up through. Hopefully this weekend.
  15. But in the interest of combating climate change she's gonna stay home, right? RIGHT?!? I'm shocked!
  16. That’s definitely a great song and the video is extremely well done.
  17. More about the 1983 miniseries
