  1. I had heard from others their fish fry was good. Good to know you give it a thumbs up.

    The Stalwart

I have no doubt you both will stand strong against whatever the future brings.
  5. Hubby and I are so very sorry for your loss. I’ve come to understand that rescued dogs are so very special, as we have Lady who joined our family. They instinctively know their new home is special and I believe the love they give is extra special. Thank you for sharing Sammy’s story.
  6. Some other guy has my sympathy.

    Your Voice I Hear

Your words reminded me of this.
  8. This year I wrapped my middle son’s (he is 40 something, Mom won’t publish his age) socks in a box that pictured a spice rack I had bought. After unwrapping, he looked at the picture and tried to nicely tell me how he would use it. His brothers cracked up with laughter at the expression on his face. He was thrilled to see the box contained socks.

    Nope, I’m a pickle purist.

    Fluff Enough

I still enjoy a dill pickle sandwich with mayonnaise. I can remember eating sugar sandwiches and mustard and ketchup sandwiches as a kid.
  11. I think a finger print is unique enough to use for everything, unless you are one of those rare individuals….like me. I worked in the Court system and several years ago the geniuses in Albany decided all court personnel had to be fingerprinted. I had prints taken at the NYSP Barracks, weren’t good enough, so went to local Police agency, nope again then to the Sheriff’s Office and again my prints weren’t readable. Decided enough was enough and stopped wasting my time. I jokingly told my co-workers maybe I was an alien and didn’t know it. Wondered if the men in black would show up. Fingerprints probably wouldn’t work for me after all so I’ll stick with my two page list 😊
  12. Maybe a power washer would work better than a screwdriver to clean under your mower. You might get lucky and all that dog poop/wet grass will blow into the neighbor’s yard. If they say anything it’s fertilizer and you’re just a neighborly kind of guy.
  13. I had no expectations of change when she took office. I believe the majority of Politicians no longer care about “what is best for the people”, it’s “what can I do to stay in office”. No doubt she will do whatever is necessary to remain in office.

    The Empty Chair

Thank you Linda. My niece called Friday night from Arnot ER to tell me they brought her Mom in. She asked me to call the Aunts (my sisters) and all we new was Pat was unconscious. I called my daughter in law who used to work in the ER to see if she could check on Pat for me. When Chris and Abby came through our front door I knew it wasn’t good. I still can’t believe Pat is gone from us.

    The Empty Chair

There was an empty chair this evening at my sister Pat’s home. She died very unexpectedly last night and we are all trying to understand. She turned 63 in March and retired in April. She was my sister, co-worker for 9 years, confidant, advisor, friend, shoulder to lean on when needed. Yesterday was a difficult day that turned so much worse.

So beautiful Linda. For our family it was Mom’s kitchen table. Thank you for sharing this and, again, so very sorry for your loss.
  17. I still have trouble “listening”, Linda, and you would think once you have experienced things you would know to pay attention. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
  18. 100% true. I believe the family unit is the foundation of any society. When the family unit crumbles so does society.
  19. Totally agree, what’s left to the imagination is so much more powerful than actually watching the actors play it out. I was at a bachelorette party years ago and someone put on a porn video the one and only time I watched this type of film. I was bored and all I saw was dirty feet.
  20. The alarm is sounding loudly but no one is listening. I wonder how long it will take before it all implodes.
  21. Reading this I believe your daughter was a truly special person with a beautiful soul.

    The Nail

Beautiful Linda. I did finally find the courage to watch Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” and as terrifying and moving as the movie was I was left with the feeling it did not come close to the suffering He endured for us. I think only a very few humans in our history have understood, felt and shown that kind of pure love for others. I do not get emotional over movies but watching this movie broke my heart and I wept like a baby.
  23. It may seem like an extraordinarily long winter to you but I was reminded of the winters of my childhood. Snow started sometimes late October, definitely in November and lasted through end of March.

    The End Is Near

You might want to consider having them framed when they have provided you with your last wearing. It’s not easy letting go of treasures.

    Harry's Inn

You are a braver person than I am. As I’ve gotten older I have graduated to being able to tolerate a couple shakes of hot sauce on some of my food and mild pepper rings. 😀
