TTL News 319 Posted February 6, 2023 Quote ALBANY - Yes, we know it's cold out. But at least you weren't on the top of Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks. On Saturday night, the wind chill at the summit of Whiteface hit minus 114 degrees as the temperature fell to minus 38 degrees combined with 45 mph wind, The Wild Center, an educational group in the Adirondacks, said. The group said the minus 114 degrees would be under the old wind-chill system. "At 11:15 Saturday night it was -38 and the wind was howling at 45 mph at their station on the summit of Whiteface," the group said on Facebook. "Together, that makes it -84 wind chill using the new system, and for those who wish to put that in a historical context -114 using the old system. See more here. Chris 2,238 Posted February 6, 2023 Last time I was up there it was early October and it was cold and windy. Full on, winter coat weather. "Brutal" cannot begin to describe what it must be like up there in the dead of winter.
