    This was also my understanding.

I believe anyone eligible to vote in a jurisdiction is eligible to run....and last knew, village residents remain a part of the town, paying town taxes and voting in town elections.  I'm not aware of any recent legal ruling that changed that.

I'm sure that is correct.  It's just the only thing I could think of.  lol.  Mr B interprets things quite differently sometimes.

I read on one post that they said it was staffing.  So many comments about never heard of them, didn't know they were there, they didn't advertise yada yada.

They advertised a lot on the same pages they people who never heard of them were commenting on.  Funny they saw that post and none of the rest.

I heard the food was great so it's too bad really.  A breakfast/lunch place doesn't work for me obviously or I would have given them a try.

It's absolutely hysterical that one half of the Dyanmic Duds is complaining about ballot issues given their history with ballots.

My thoughts, and I'm not engaging him any further, are that Don lives in the town and owns property in the Village.

He was the Village Mayor years ago.  I actually asked someone, maybe Sid or Rodney way back when how he could be on the Village govt if he lived in the town.  Was told it was because he was a property owner in the Village.

Maybe that or maybe something completely different entirely or maybe I'm wrong and he does live in the Village.  He's running for a town position.

    Thanks!

The flourishy language in some reports seemed to dance around the word "purchase".

The biggest thing for me is that they are/will be new owners (not tenants) who are responsible for utilities/upkeep (and hopefully taxes)....even if it's some insignificant sale price.

Totally agree and if somewhere down the road they can't maintain and abandon it, then it's their problem and Elmira nor the County needs to stay out of it.

I don't see much detail about "sale" or "purchase" anywhere, nor any mention of price. Just "transition" and "assume ownership".

I know I probably sound like a chronic nay-sayer for pointing that out, but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if it was a symbolic $1 price or something.

Over the years, the IDA has also been known to tax offer property tax exemptions to privately owned commercial properties based on the premise that it's for the greater good.

I hope the Arena will be returned to the tax rolls. But even if they do avoid taxes.....if the taxpayers are at least done paying for utilities and upkeep it's better than the last four or five deals.

The article I read on WETM says they are purchasing it:

In a news release sent to 18 News, Stemerman said, “The management agreement leading to a purchase of the LECOM Event Center aligns perfectly with our business model to build a sustainable and profitable hockey operation.”

The announcement states there will be a 90-day transition period before the Stemermans complete the sale and take over arena operations.

LECOM Event Center sold to Aviators' owners

Well, i for one am relieved to know that the Town of Horseheads will now be saved from the nefarious clutches of those liberal and non-Christian heathens thanks to the Dynamic Duo.

I fell like I need to start paying attention to the Town agenda just to go watch for entertainment purposes.

  7. I have seen the banners and yard signs but didn't notice the cross.  I know one yard that has the biggest sign I've seen so far is pretty much the last person on earth I would vote for so that say a lot.

For some reason Mr Brennan feels now is the time to try and get to a new position where he won't have term limits.  He had said that he would have more impact in his local area than in the county.  Huh?  Isn't he representing the local area on the county legislature?

This is the Village so basically the fight over the parks is the biggest issue I've seen them have in awhile.

I think it's hard for the A types to retire.  There are a lot of people in the house and senate that are too old.  We are waiting for them to die.  The President, too.  Why don't we pass an Amendment for the maximum age to run for President, Senator and Representative?  Can we do that to the Supreme Court too? I am scared more will die while Trump is in office and we'll have an even more uneven match than the 6-3 now..7-2 or 8-1...since all the older ones are the ones appointment by a Democratic President right?

    Nope.

The Democratic Justices are not that old. The oldest is 70 and one is 54.  I think Clarence Thomas is the oldest Justice and he was appointed by Bush.  Over all the USSC is relatively young.

I guess he owns the white building with the arrow pointing to it as well.

Yea I saw on FB that building is owned by him and has a lot of questionable people coming and going considering its closed up.

It's my understanding that with the last law changes on these they can lock the doors, change the locks and take the product and the fines are not even relevant anymore.

He was the last hold out I knew of.

I know Wellsburg has a legal shop somewhere Elmira has one so far and Horseheads has one now and one on the agenda to open in the old Ames Plaza I have not been in a any of them. Visited one in Victor when I was up there, pretty neat little shop in an old rail car was not overly impressed with the product.

There is one in Waverly and Corning now.  Area can only pretty much support so many of them and the ones in Horseheads and Elmira (College Ave) have there farms right here local which I like

Oh no!!  now where will the bottom feeders get their gross moldy weed from!

You will see more push back against the sticker stores now that legal shops are opening up in the area

There are not many still around.  The one that are finally smartened up that advertising everywhere was not the smartest idea.
