Every time we go to the greater Binghamton area for something - we usually stop at the Blue Dolphin. One of our favorite local restaurants - been going there for 25 years or more. It's not one of those all-too-often boring same old same old chain restaurants.

Been there to Ollie's a few times and I concur with Chris - you won't find everything there but it's a cool place non-the-less. What's even better is, I don't have to go to Ithaca to go to Ollie's anymore. Woowho!

I don't remember a Dog-n-Burger by the EFA - there was one on south side at Bulkhead and another one over by Ernie Davis school. We used to leave the dance at the Hayloft and race right over to bulkhead to catch Dog-n-burger before they closed for the night. yum yum

How did Nichols Discount and Dog-n-Burger not make the list? Five burgers for a buck!!! Can you believe it? We've come a long ways baby. (:(

What's something different you remember, or, what do you remember about the places on their list?
I remember going to Sears in downtown Elmira in the late 50s and early 60s with my folks (I was a teenager) and riding the escalators up and down while they were shopping. We were simply amazed by those moving stairs.

You're absolutely right about that.

We've been there to eat many times - and my honey bun would spend two hours in the shops afterwards (which was a bit less enjoyable than eating there - for me anyway). Maybe we'll run down there before the end of February - just for old times sake. It will be a sad day when it closes, to be sure.

I remember it like it was yesterday - July 1970 - I canceled our subscription for home delivery of the Star Gazette. That's when I realized for the first time that the supposed National news was being spoon fed to the masses by a small hand full of people. Almost all the national articles had the byline (AP) or (UPI) and they were the arbiters of the news - take it or leave it - the local papers all across the nation just regurgitated whatever the AP or UPI had to say verbatim. And sadly, with the small hand full of billionaires currently controlling the news business, I believe the situation is even worse today. With that said, it would be nice to have a polite discussion of the "National News". Skeptic that I am though, not sure if that's possible.

Well I got curious about the fishing regs on Shepards Creek - so here's what I found out from DEC: it is open season all year long with a limit of 5 but no more than two of the five can be over 12" - and no minimum length.
But here is an exception to that rule: Cayuta Creek from the Wyncoop Creek Road Bridge upstream to the NY Route 223 bridge - open all year - daily limit of 2 - but minimum length is 12" and artificial lures only.
So 33 miles of this creek has one set of rules and a two mile stretch in the middle of this creek has a different set of rules.
Does that make any sense to you? It sounds like a revenue enhancer for the game warden to me. Government!!!! Ugh.....

I haven't read the fishing book in a few years but, at least a portion (if not to whole creek) is open year around. Most folks call it Cayuta Creek nowadays. Just wanted to see how many old timers might be on here that remember it as Shepards. There is a historical marker sign in Waverly that refers to it as Shepards Creek though.

Shepards Creek is loaded with fishermen today by golly. Forget the yard work - let's go fishing. There'll be a traffic jam out here pretty soon when that tanker truck rolls into the neighborhood.

You can fish for free - without a license? I didn't know you had to pay to fish and you have to buy a license too?? Holy kamoly!! What's next?

And saying "that's just the way he is" of a boss is not an excuse. In fact, it's literally a training example of unacceptable excuses.
You're absolutely correct MsKreed. I sat through those state mandated sexual harassment courses at my workplace a number of times over the years. And why does none of that apply to him - I haven't a clue.

Yup Kevin - another one comes forward today. King Cuomo needs to take his rather large ego and his bullying attitude and hit the road Jack (and don't come back). He doesn't seems to have many friends these days- nearly everybody has thrown him under the bus, except for Bill and Hill, I guess.

If you haven't visited this place, you really should consider taking a ride over there - we went with some friends and had a good time. It's a pretty interesting place. https://www.flbm.org/

If you belong to the American Legion or VFW or if you or a family member are/were a member of the military, you may be interested in visiting the Purple Heart Museum. As things open up and start getting back to normal (or somewhat normal) why not consider taking a trip to this museum. https://www.thepurpleheart.com/

Are you aware that seniors can enter NY state parks for free on weekdays? More info here: https://parks.ny.gov/admission/golden-park-program.aspx

Ya, that sounds like a accurate poll.
IMHO - .00594% sounds like the amount of truth you might find in any story the NY Times reports on.

Well - if he fires the AG on day one, as he says he can do, and he gets behind law enforcement officers - then he deserves a chance far as I am concerned. Maybe we can deal with the dems and a-holes in the Legislature on the next go-around.
