14 Year Old Charged After Stealing Vehicle In Town Of Baldwin

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony offense of the New York State Penal Law.

On May 31, 2023, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol was dispatched to a disabled vehicle off the roadway on Breesport N. Chemung Road, in the Town of Baldwin. Upon arrival of the Deputy, the vehicle was determined to be unoccupied and the Deputy attempted contact with the owner but was unable to make contact. The vehicle was towed from the scene at that time.

Information was later developed by the Criminal Investigation Division that the vehicle had been stolen from Wyncoop Creek Road, in the Town of Baldwin, and
abandoned at the location it was found by the Deputy.

After further investigation, the 14-year-old was identified as a suspect. The juvenile subsequently admitted to stealing the vehicle and its scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Until then the juvenile was released to his parent.
