Elmira Man Charged With Attempted Murder

On Sunday April 23rd, 2023 at approximately 01:00AM Elmira Police Department Officers were dispatched to Kahuna’s bar for a report that a patron had stabbed an employee.

Upon arrival Officers observed that the employee had been stabbed several times in the area of his head and neck. Aid was
rendered and he was removed from scene by Erway Ambulance for medical treatment. Elmira Police developed information as to the identity of the suspect.

The suspect was observed by New York State Police who were canvassing the area and the suspect was taken into custody without incident several blocks away.

As a result of this investigation, 27 year old Avontae T Wilson of Elmira, was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B Felony.

Wilson was arraigned in Elmira City Court and was remanded to the Chemung County jail in Lieu of 250,000 Cash Bail.
