Proof in the work

I believe a person's good works and deeds should be done quietly, not announced to the world and draw attention to one's self. YMMV

You speak of tangible efforts but not all work or efforts fronted when there is a need are able to be held or seen .

Frankly, I don’t care about putting what I do on display for you or any else to review and judge.

If your in it for recognition or kudos , your in it for the wrong reasons . The help we give or what we do for others ( when we choose ) has to be done selflessly and from the heart thats more gratifying than any “ attaboys” (pats on the back ) .

may be an incorrect assumption but:

I assume you are local and given the rather dismal state of the City and the various communities within, talk appears to be it.

Well I have ran for city council twice and I am currently considering another run for a different seat, I sat in the schools board for ECSD for 7 years winning the election 3 times, the last time I had 85% of the votes, I currently sit on the AG Society board and we plan the Chemung County Fair along with other events. We are the board that worked hard at brining the fair back.

So what have you done to make changes in your community other than be a keyboard warrior? I don't mean having ideas, I mean boots on the ground actually doing something?

Since registering to vote is so easy, I'm not sure why they have voter registration events.

Are you creating a new community garden or utilizing the one we already have?

You wouldn't believed a lot of residents out here are not registered voters a lot of them don't even know where boe is actually located at anytime I do a voter registration event I keep it very neutral and they usually works out very well but like I said it surprises me that's here aren't registered that untapped voters

I'm using a community garden in town but they need a lot of work some people own some of them some are just forgotten about. you can feed a whole community with that place.

Can we  return to the topic?  I have been walking on the trail by the Park N Ride after the Hilton (now the Clarion) for years.  I go during daylight and have never had a problem...until the homeless were removed from under the bridge on the one side and the fire removed them on the other side. Now there are tarps in the woods very openly near the trail and two people that were obviously distressed riding their bikes along the route (complete with a trap and other assorted belongs rolled up into it on the bike) and another sitting at the bench trying to decide what to do...So the homeless are coming to the bike/hike trail.  Not sure about the solution, but ignoring it is not going to make it go away.  There usual hiding place is now under construction.

There's been a camp down there out back of Kennedy Valve for a while. I remember seeing it from the Water St. overpass before the leaves came on the trees.

That wooded area across the creek at Chapel Park would make a great area for them to go!. That gets them out of the city and any city laws.

Great idea Kevin . All the amenities are there , Tops Mkt , not a splash pad but a creek , a hardware store for new tarps now and again . Any Smoke Shops in that area ? Seriously a good idea but its got to have a draw .

Aces and Eights is just around the corner for smokes or Smokin Joes is just a couple mile walk.

The wooded area would also keep the wind down on the windy and chilly nights.

Plus all kinds of people at the events to solicit donations from

From Elmira Councilman Gary Brinn's Facebook page:

Quote

The revised resolution on encampments will not be on the next City Council agenda, but as promised, we will give ourselves the ability to protect public safety in the most compassionate and positive way possible.
