The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony offense of the New York State Penal Law.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Byrne Dairy. Upon arrival Deputies observed the vehicle in question to match that of one in a missing persons report involving a missing 16-year old juvenile from the State of Virginia. Deputies spoke with the occupants who were found to be two 17-year olds and one 16-year-old, who was confirmed to be missing from the State of Virginia. During the investigation, Deputies located a CANIK TPG 9mm handgun and 16 rounds of ammunition within the vehicle. One of the 17-year old Juveniles was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and arraigned in Chemung County Court where he was released to his parents.

All of the juveniles were turned over to their respective parents/guardians. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police and the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither of which have any real control over state law and “Justice reform.” For that you’d have to look to the state legislature and Governor, which, well…

On Thursday September 22nd, 2022 Elmira Police Department Officers observed two subjects operating gasoline powered Mini bikes in the roadway in violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. When Officers attempted to stop the operators, both fled from police. One of the operators was located stopped in the area, and was issued traffic tickets before being released. At the same time the second operator was located within the 300 block of W Third St and fled from officers on foot. The second operator, Davonte L Alligood was located and arrested. Subsequent investigation by officers led to the recovery of a semi-automatic 9mm hand gun loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition

As a result of the investigation, Davonte L Alligood, a 22-year-old male, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree(Class C Felony), Obstruction of
Governmental Administration (Class A Misdemeanor) and several other Vehicle and Traffic violations. Alligood was arraigned in Elmira City Court and was remanded to the Chemung County jail.

On September 22nd, 2022 Elmira Police Department Officers conducted a traffic stop on Mt Zoar St. in the City of Elmira.

During the traffic stop it was learned that the operator of the vehicle was in possession of a quantity of narcotics and was taken into custody. As Officers continued to conduct their
investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a 9mm handgun loaded with 15 rounds. Additionally, an extended magazine loaded with 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a large quantity of marihuana and a large quantity of US Currency were also recovered.

As a result of this investigation, Brendon T White, a 22 year old male, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (Class C Felony), and Criminal Possession of a
Controlled Substance 7th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor). The passenger, Nicholas W Decker a 29 year old male, was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.

Just gets better and better dunnit ?! 
And now with the Judge upholding Hokul the Jokuls asinine concealed carry laws once again  the scummers in the mean streets of Anytown NY will be able to protect themselves from from those nasty Law Abiding Citizens . Now its going to be our turn , even if carrying, to just turn and walk away from anyone being harmed and if questioned … i dint see nuttin ! 
But the humor in this case is the bad asses were riding , yep , mini bikes … armed doper gangs on minibikes ! Pardon my saying but … only in Elmira bwahaa ! And yes that last was meant as sarcasm .

On October 19th, 2022 Elmira Police Department Officers responded to a reported domestic incident on W First St in the City of Elmira.

During the investigation, it was learned that the male party involved possessed a handgun. Officers attempted to detain the suspect to further investigate these claims, however the suspect resisted officers and attempted to flee the residence before being taken into custody. The suspect, Jaheim D Brown, a 20 year old male from Elmira, was found to be in possession of a 9mm “Ghost” gun which was loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition.

As a result of this investigation, Brown was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (Class D Felony) and Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

Brown was held pending arraignment in Elmira City Court on October 20th,2022.

On November 17, 2022, the State Police in Horseheads along with the assistance of Elmira Police Department executed a search warrant on 4th Street, in Elmira, NY.  

During the search, troopers located numerous firearms, including handguns, pistols, and assault weapons.

Also, recovered was an extensive amount of large capacity magazines and ammunition.  

As a result, 22 year old Madixx J. Burgeof Elmira was arrested for 7 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd  Degree,  a class D Felony.  Burge was arraigned on the charges and remanded to Chemung County Jail in lieu of $350,000 cash bail.  

This case is ongoing with additional charges pending.

Elmira Police Officers were flagged down by a concerned neighbor in the 500 block of W First St on January 29th 2024 at approximately 02:52am. Officers were informed of a reported burglary in progress at an occupied residence within the neighborhood.

Police responded to the address and located 3 males at the rear of the property. The 3 males fled from police however 2 of the suspects were subsequently apprehended a short time later. It was found that the persons were in possession of soft body armor and a loaded 9mm carbine.

As a result, Elmira residents 24 year old Patrick Woodard and 22 year old Josiah Stowe-Alington were arrested and charged with Burglary in the First Degree; a class B Violent Felony. This offense
carries a maximum potential sentence of up to 25 years in state prison. Through investigation, it was learned that the arrested persons and the intended target of the burglary knew each other and that this was not a random act. Investigative efforts are continuing to charge the third individual involved.

On February 6th, 2024 at approximately 7:48 PM Elmira Police Officers were investigating a domestic incident when they located the subject of the investigation at an address in the 500 block of
Park Pl.

Officers detained the subject identified as Leroy A. Weekes at which time he was found to possess a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 handgun. The handgun was found to be a stolen weapon.

Weekes was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree a Class C Felony and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th a Class E Felony for the handgun. Weeks was additionally charged with Menacing 2nd a Class A Misdemeanor, Assault 3rd a Class A Misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th a Class A Misdemeanor concerning the domestic investigation.

On February 16, 2024, the New York State Police assisted the Elmira Police Department and arrested Chase Hartke, age 24, of Southport, NY, for nine counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony). Hartke possessed several illegal firearms and high-capacity magazines in his residence.  During the execution of a search warrant, Hartke was found to possess illegal rifles, a tactical shotgun, 3D-printed ghost gun parts, numerous high-capacity ammunition magazines, and ammunition in an assortment of calibers.

Hartke was arraigned in the Town of Southport Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  

The New York State Police - Troop E Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) was assisted by members of Troop E Uniform Force, the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Elmira Police Department Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 46-year old Javar A. Miller of Larchmont Rd. in the Town of Elmira, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, offense of the New York State Penal Law.

Miller was arrested subsequent to an investigation into a domestic incident that occurred on February 14, 2024. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained by the Criminal Investigation Division and executed at 779 Larchmont Rd. The search warrant lead to an unregistered semi automation handgun being located in the residence.

Miller was arrested on the aforementioned charge and issued an appearance ticket to appear in front of the Elmira Town Court on a later date. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Elmira Police Department.
