Chris 3,699 Posted April 10 3300 Chambers Rd. Horseheads NY 14845 607-846-3130 I've never set foot in the place, and I never will. Because I prefer to spend my money at places of business with some semblance of integrity. Our son has been employed there for at least a year, and assistant manager for the past five months ( I think ). He recently found another job and gave his two week notice on Monday. Today he arrived for his shift only to be told he was terminated immediately because it wouldn't be productive for him to finish his remaining shifts or some such corporate BS. But that's alright, he's on his way to a better job with better opportunities. It's just too bad that the courtesy he showed them, by giving notice, couldn't be returned in kind. But I guess that's what you get in the McCorporate chain business world.
Matthew 0 Posted April 10 Honestly the only part that gets to me is that it counts as a “termination” meaning I’m not allowed to use the gym for the next 6 months. They wouldn’t even let me work out after having me drive up for my shift just to tell me to go home. Putting in my two weeks got me banned for the next 6 months…
Adam 601 Posted April 10 report to the labor board for sure, sounds like a cut/dry retaliation perhaps even discrimination aside from that, you better have my stuff clean and ready when i call for it @Matthew

However now that technically they terminated his position he could go for unemployment if he so wished they may fight it but they had no reason to terminate him so it would just hold up the process that's the down side of NYS being a hire/fire at will state from an employer standpoint. 15 hours ago, Matthew said: Honestly the only part that gets to me is that it counts as a “termination” meaning I’m not allowed to use the gym for the next 6 months. (congratulations on the new job anyways)

Grated, there's a "waiting week" so depending on when the new job starts, it may only be a partial week of benefits. But could still be worth the satisfaction. Completely understand but I would do it just to waste their time with the paperwork anything really to jam them up at this point.
