Harris Says Trump "Is A Fascist" After John Kelly Statements

The comments from Kelly, the retired Marine general who worked for Trump in the White House from 2017 to 2019, built on past warnings from former top Trump officials as the election enters its final two weeks.

Kelly has long been critical of Trump and previously accused him of calling veteranskilled in combat “suckers” and “losers.” His new warnings emerged as Trump seeks a second term vowing to dramatically expand his use of the military at home and suggesting he would use force to go after Americans he considers “enemies from within.”

“He commented more than once that, ‘You know, Hitler did some good things, too,’” Kelly recalled to the Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying “nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good,” but Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

In his interview with The Atlantic, Kelly recalled that when Trump raised the idea of needing “German generals,” Kelly would ask if he meant “Bismarck’s generals,” referring to Otto von Bismarck, the chancellor who oversaw the unification of Germany. “Surely you can’t mean Hitler’s generals,” Kelly recalled asking Trump. To which the former president responded, “Yeah, yeah, Hitler’s generals.”

Wonder how many more people who were with Trump every day will say “hey maybe this dude isn’t normal” before people actually notice

AT this stage of the game, this information will change nothing. Seriously, if this is the "October surprise" for anyone, they haven't been paying attention.

But also, be careful of "he said/she said,' especially in a contentious political race.

1. anyone with anything negative to say about trump gets an automatic platform/audience no matter how outlandish or un-verified the claim

2. couldnt be anything more than an axe to grind, or books to sell could it?

Anyone sitting around in Oct 2024 who is considering voting for Trump has already heard these claims.

And after being bombarded with “Orange Man Bad” messaging for several years, they’re no longer listening to even notice any new new or expanded allegations.

Yep.

And, for quite some time, we’ve also been told “see something, say something”.

Experts and authority figures on all matters have lectured us that staying silent is practically the same thing as participating (from “me too” or misogyny to antisemitism and suspicious signs of ‘domestic terrorism’).

So there’s a fair argument that if the danger existed and was witnessed as far back as 2019 or earlier, then no honorable or credible accuser would continue working for a murderously despotic tyrant and just let unspeakable behavior slide for years.

I’d guess the same as the number of people who were with Biden every day and saw but didn’t say “hey, maybe this dude isn’t cognitively normal”.

You have a point, I think we’re seeing the exact same thing play out with Trump now

Possibly, but ( my opinion only) I think when Trump was in office the first time, because he wasn’t part of the Washington political machine, he was an outsider and no one would work with him or give him a chance or support his policies, including Republicans.

Well the key word there is “honorable.” I don’t believe many of them knew the meaning of the word.

I agree.

Specific to this topic, it's implied that John Kelly's military distinction should confer some measure of "honor" and lend credibility to his claims.

Instead, it should raise the question of how "honorable" it was for him to happily withhold knowledge of such egregious behavior (and only disclose it years later in the form of a lucrative book deal).
