The Buffalo Bills are bringing back longtime starting safety and former team captain Micah Hyde, signing the 33-year-old to the practice squad.

Hyde, a two-time All-Pro selection, has been one of the best safeties in franchise history during his seven-year tenure in Buffalo. From 2017-2023, Hyde started 95 games with the Bills, racking up 347 tackles and 16 INTs.

"Micah Hyde is in a practice squad role," head coach Sean McDermott said. "Extremely confident in Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin and Cole Bishop."

Hyde was a free agent following the 2023 season and elected to not sign with another team in the offseason. Bills head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have left the door open throughout the 2024 season for a potential reunion with Hyde.

Yesterday's loss to the Rams rests solely on the defense and the head coach. Not this guy:

Screenshot 2024-12-09 at 10.11.28 AM.png

Yeah he threw a few bad passes. There's only so much he can do as QB. And he does all that and more... dude scored another record as the first player to pass for 3 touchdowns and rush for another three in a single game. He played his ass off. But when they don't win, he still takes the responsibility.

If the defense thinks they're gonna play that way against Detroit and have any chance, they're smoking crack.

With the ball just one yard away, offensive coordinator Joe Brady dialed up a quarterback sneak to try and get the Bills into the end zone. There was just one problem: if Allen didn’t get into the end zone, the clock would bleed precious seconds, and the Bills would be forced into a conundrum. McDermott could either stop the clock with a time out or let the clock run and run a quick play or have Allen spike the ball.

NFL legend Tom Brady was on the call for Fox and immediately took issue with the Bills’ decision to run the ball.

“To me, take three shots throwing it, don’t use a timeout,” Brady said.

The Bills ran it with Allen, but he was stopped short of the goal line. Allen was stuck under the pile and the seconds started ticking. That’s when McDermott burned the time out. Brady knew what everybody knew - the game was now effectively over.

“Even if they score, what’s the big deal?” Brady said. “They’re gonna have to go for an onside kick. I don’t like that one bit. It could have just cost them the game right there.”

The Bills got the ball back on a Rams punt with seven seconds left on the clock, but the punt resulted in a touchback as time expired.

Buffalo ran eight plays on their final scoring drive, which lasted only 54 seconds. McDermott made sure not to use any of his timeouts on the first six plays. He said after the game that the decision to burn one after the Allen quarterback run on first down from the one-yard line was because time was running off with Allen under the pile.

“You’re in a pile, number one,” McDermott said. “He’s in the pile, to unload the pile, get back on the line, that takes some time. So whether you’re going to clock it at that point, just to get up off the pile to do all that takes longer than you’d like in that situation.”

Damn, what a game!

Crazy!!!  We have a bunch of ladies who are Bills fans who have been meeting at the Moose every week for the game.   All the ladies screaming and yelling and having a great time.  No men.  They are there but paying no attention at all.  lol

I hate it when they do that.  That's one reason why I don't ever get tickets to end of season games, especially when my team is actually doing well.

@Andy, his brother and others have tickets.

I’d be pissed. How are you supposed to make plans when they do that a week ( less than, really ) out?

I know. They have been doing it forever.  4:30 is better than switching to a night or Monday which they have done in the past.  If the Pats didn't suck and we were going to play a good team, it may have gone to Prime time.

DETROIT — Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared to injure his right arm late in Sunday’s 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions.

Allen didn’t miss any time in the game but exited the postgame locker room and entered the X-ray room to have the training staff examine the injury.

After the game, Allen said everything looked OK.

“Just took a funky fall,” Allen said. “More peace of mind than anything. But everything checked out so we’re good. ... Just a funky feeling but was able to throw. I don’t feel any pain right now and it’s more precaution than anything.”

I saw him holding his hand after that one play and my heart dropped.  He went out and played with no issues after that so hopefully it's nothing.

If we didn't need the wins for the next 3 games I would say give him a rest but we do need to win them all.

It seems like he took more chances Sunday but that was a game where it was called for. He's gotten better at not taking chances this year overall though.

Yeah there was one run he did where I think he could have gone further, mayebe even into the end zone, but he didn't.

We are witnessing a legend in the making.

Agree.  There were even a few times when he could have made quite a run in a clear field but he didn't.  Warms my heart, our boy is growing up.  lol

Dion Dawkins credits Josh's happiness at home for team's success this season:

Quote

Allen didn’t deny it.

“She’s been a huge part. The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best,” Allen told The Associated Press.

Allen and the Bills (11-3) have been on a roll for much of this season and host the New England Patriots (3-11) on Sunday. With five games remaining, Buffalo clinched its fifth straight AFC East title, defeated AFC-leading Kansas City (13-1) and is coming off a 48-42 win over Detroit (12-2).

What’s curious is how the quarterback has stepped up his game to an even higher level since proposing to Steinfeld on Nov. 22 during the Bills’ bye week.

Well, that doent make me even a little bit nervous.

Well so far I like what I see. She seems to stay out of the spotlight and lets him do his thing, unlike another celebrity significant other.

And if she's gonna dump him, hopefully she waits til the off season LOL

On a separate note, I wasn't really a fan of Dawkins at first, but the more I see the more I realize he's kind of a big kid personality. I think his goofing off and trash talking sometimes gets him in trouble though.

Geezus that was an ugly game.

That fumble that the Bills recovered in the end zone was literally a gift from God:

”Josh’s hand is hurt? Here’s a fumble, Merry Christmas.”

The defense was absolute ass thanks to all the injuries.

The boys , their girlfriends and others were at this game, freezing their asses off no doubt. I’m glad their first game wasn’t a loss.

Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins and his family escaped injury on Thursday as a private plane went down in his yard in suburban East Aurora, New York, killing the pilot.

Officials say the aircraft was on its way to New York from Michigan when it became engulfed in flames and crashed mere feet away from Dawkins' home.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

I said at the beginning of the pre-season that I looked forward to watching this young man’s career. And he’s doing exactly what they hired him for:
