  1. When I returned from grocery shopping earlier this week, I turned on the radio and NPR was on. I listened to a snippet of the World's Woes for about 45 seconds and changed the dial, stopping when I heard the Youngbloods playing "Get Together", one of my all-time favorites. The radio station was I-100, and it was Five-o'clock Free-Play (or something like that). After it was over, the DJ played a couple more similarly-themed songs -- all about people uniting, coming together, working together. She noted that these songs were requests from listeners, and how glad she was about that. I was so heartened to know that there are others besides me who are sick to death of partisan bickering and gridlock! Others who want people -- our country -- to get to a more unified, less hateful place. There's Got to be people out there who want this. Are You one of them? If so, how do we go about making this happen? Maybe by calling our elected representatives and telling them they Need to work together or we're not voting for them? By being Nicer to each other? By Stopping the US vs THEM mentality and instead Working at trying to understand our neighbors better? By following the Golden Rule of Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You? All of the above, plus more?? If you're Not one of the people who subscribes to "Get Together", why not? Do you really see things so Black and White? Democrat and Republican -- one which is "bad" and the other "good"? Can you explain how you feel/what you believe without blaming the other side?
  2. Hi All -- Have been meaning to pose this question for awhile-- If you voted "No" on Proposition 4 on the 2021 Ballot, why did you? Here's the Ballot measure, taken from https://www.elections.ny.gov/2021BallotProposals.html , but before you answer, please read the information below the measure. BALLOT 4: The proposed amendment would delete from the current provision on absentee ballots the requirement that an absentee voter must be unable to appear at the polls by reason of absence from the county or illness or physical disability. Shall the proposed amendment be approved? According to the National Conference of State Legislatures ( https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/vopp-table-1-states-with-no-excuse-absentee-voting.aspx ) : Twenty-six states and Washington, D.C., offer "no-excuse" absentee voting, which means that any voter can request and cast an absentee/mail ballot, no excuse or reason necessary. Eight states conduct elections entirely by mail (California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Washington), which means voters do not need to request a ballot, and instead automatically receive one. Here's a link regarding security of Absentee voting: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mail-in-voting-cybersecurity-hackers-2020-elections/
  3. I'm an independent voter. I've been to several town halls he's done and am really put off by the partisan-bating used in the hand-outs he distributes. I don't care who is running for office -- if it's a Dem saying everything is the Republican's fault they're not being honest. If it's a Republican saying it's all the Dems fault, they're not being honest. Neither official would be good for our state, in my opinion.
